Byker Business Development Centre, Newcastle:

Gateshead Business Centres, Gateshead:

Gateshead Council runs five business centres that provide a supportive environment for small businesses and inward investors. Facilities include reception, administration and meeting rooms. The business centres are located at:

  • Blaydon: Office and small light manufacturing units in the west of the borough within a few minutes drive from the A1 Western Bypass.
  • Greenesfield: Greenesfield offers attractive office space in the centre of Gateshead, within walking distance of Newcastle city centre. It is ideally located for public transport links and access to the road network.
  • The Stonehills Complex: In the east of the borough within walking distance of the Metro and within ten minutes drive of the A19 and Tyne Tunnel. The complex offers both Licence arrangements and commercial leases.
  • Gateshead International Business Centre: Gateshead International Business Centre is aimed at creative sector companies and offers accommodation to firms that have been trading for less than three years. It focuses on international trade and is based within a modern, newly constructed four-storey building which boasts hi-tech ICT facilities throughout. The Centre provides meeting rooms, a reception area, utility rooms and informal meeting places serving the 51 offices.
  • Team Valley Business Centre: Team Valley Business Centre comprises 33 workshop units from 37 sq.m to 130 sq.m, and eight offices from 24 sq.m to 33 sq.m. It has excellent transport links, car parking and top class facilities.

Houghton Enterprise Centre, Sunderland:

Located close to the A690, this Sunderland City Council operated centre provides 24-hour access to 31 serviced units ideal for either office or light industrial use, and ranging in size from 15 sq.m to 100 sq.m. New and expanding businesses based at the centre can make use of the fully equipped metalwork and woodwork machine shops and paint spray areas.

John Buddle Work Village, Newcastle:

Located in the City West Business Park off Scotswood Road, the John Buddle Work Village is only a five-minute drive from Newcastle city centre and a short distance from the A1 bypass north and south. The centre offers modern office accommodation and workshop premises primarily for new and young businesses under three years old. Lynwood Business Centre, Newcastle:

In the heart of Newcastle this incubator accommodation offers support, equipment and technology to start-up businesses. The centre provides the range of support services expected from an incubator unit including reception and administrative support services.   • Pine Tree, Birtley: Situated in the heart of Birtley, this centre is located within the Komatsu site, with good access to the A1M, Washington, Chester-le-Street and Durham. The centre provides 32 offices in varying sizes together with good car parking facilities.
  • Gear House, Gateshead: Located close to the Gateshead Quays with easy access to all major trunk roads, rail links and the airport. The centre offers 66 offices and nine workshops in varying sizes. A 100-place car park is available on site.
  • Owners, Newburn: Located within Newburn village the centre will shortly commence a new build programme which will provide an additional 22 offices to complement the existing 37. On site parking is available.
  • St Mary's, Newcastle: Within a short walk of St James's Park this central location is excellent for those wishing to work from the centre of the city. St Mary's has 30 offices and on site parking.
  • Stables, Newcastle: Located within a listed building in the heart of Newcastle, this is a good location for those using public transport, as on site parking is very limited.  The Stables provides 20 offices together with meeting/conference facilities.

North East Business and Innovation Centre (BIC), Sunderland:

This purpose built facility provides office and light industrial accommodation. The BIC also offers financial support, ranging from Management Support Loans to Soft Loans from the Innovation Fund. The centre also houses “The Product Development Unit” which supports companies in prototype development and the enhancement of existing products. The BIC can arrange business counselling and mentoring, advice on European Legislation and a range of company support measures including sales and marketing, financial management and business skills training. Accommodation is available in units of varying sizes, from 19 sq.m to 232 sq.m.
