Hunt for Region’s Top Contact Centres
The search is on to find the North East’s leading contact centre for 2007.
Around 100 guests gathered at Newcastle’s Centre for Life for the launch of the annual North East Contact Centre Awards, which are again being organised by Tyne and Wear Development Company in partnership with major sponsor, Sunderland City Council.
The awards, which are taking place for the fifth time in November, seek to recognise the achievements of companies and individuals working in one of the region’s fastest growing sectors.
A total of 10 prizes are up for grabs including the prestigious North East Contact Centre of the Year, won last year by More Than in Sunderland. Other awards include Contact Centre of the Year under 100 seats, Contact Centre Dream Team and Contact Centre Professional of the Year.
Entries are now open for the awards and contact centres wishing to enter are encouraged to apply early. More information is available from www.necontactcentreawards.co.uk or by calling 01642 505181.
Paul Buie, manager of Tyne and Wear Development Company said: “Contact centres are major employers in the North East and it’s important we recognise the contribution they make to the regional economy. These awards are a great opportunity to do just that and are hugely popular with employees.”
Councillor Bob Symonds, Leader of Sunderland City Council, said: “We’re delighted that the contact awards are taking place again.
“It’s a sector that’s come along way in a short time and Sunderland has helped lead the way in attracting investment into the region and creating high quality jobs.”
More than 53,000 people – around 4.8% of the working population - are employed in around 150 contact centres across the North East, a number which is currently on the increase thanks to investments in recent months.
Sponsors of the event include Sunderland City Council, Tyne and Wear Development Company, ONE North East, North East Contact Centre Academy, Kelly Services, North East Employer Coalition and Contact Centre Professional.
