Millennium Move

A leading supplier of conveyor belts is on the move after investing in a new factory with support from Tyne and Wear Development Company.

Millennium Conveyors, which was formed in 2000, has moved to state-of-the-art premises at Simonside Industrial Estate in South Shields after seven years renting at Victoria Park in Hebburn.

With a workforce of 10, the company supplies conveyor belts to a range of manufacturers including Alcan and Cleveland Potash. The new 4,500 sq ft building at Finlay Court will give the firm additional space to bring in extra machinery to meet a growing order book. It is also keen to expand the work force moving forward.

Tyne and Wear Development Company was instrumental in helping Millennium Conveyors to identify its new factory. Over a period of months, the agency was able to recommend potential sites and provide advice and support on the relocation.

Alan Trippier from Millennium Conveyors said: “The new plant gives us the space we need to grow. We’ve been operating since 2000 and are now well established.

“Our old facilities at Victoria Park were rented and we’d really outgrown them. The new ones are better equipped and will help us meet our growing order book. We contacted Tyne and Wear Development who were extremely helpful and supportive.”

Deborah Fletcher from Tyne and Wear Development Company said: “We’re committed to encouraging investment across the region. A key part of this is working with existing local businesses to drive expansion and job creation. Having worked closely with Millennium Conveyors for some time, it’s excellent news to see them expand.”
